Anyone Can Dance
Approximately 47 minutes. Produced by Dance Vision 2005.
Got Cha Cha envy? No experience required for this wonderfully organized beginner Cha Cha tutorial hosted by Latin champions, Donald Johnson & Kasia Kozak. Anyone Can Dance Cha Cha introduces the new and beginner Cha Cha dancer to a host of fun, essential steps in the American Rhythm Bronze Cha Cha syllabus that will get you moving - and respected - on the dance floor!
In this quick start tutorial, Latin champions, Donald Johnson & Kasia Kozak, walk you through a mix of Beginner and Intermediate Bronze level steps that will get you properly grooving to that delightful syncopated rhythm indicative of a Cha Cha. What's a syncopated rhythm? You'll find out! Anyone Can Dance Cha Cha is easily presented and will get anyone moving, no experience required. Entry level learners will find it easier to grasp if they understand dance terms such as ball of foot vs. ball flat and the concept of weight change before getting started. If you've already had a handful of Cha Cha lessons, this is a great opportunity to add to your repertoire or refine your Latin timing and technique. The DVD begins with an introduction to the basic Cha Cha count, partner positions and in-place footwork. You can practice this Basic movement in the kitchen, in the bathroom -almost anywhere! Next, branch out to Side Basic, Progressive Basic, Outside Partner and Crossover Break. Multiple angles allows you to learn the moves well, as they serve as the foundation for more complex steps later. Test yourself by practicing the demonstration section! Try different music (just search the web for Cha Cha songs) and make sure to start out with slower tempos. Already impressed with your progress? This DVD doesn't end there. Get ready for more - the important Cross Body Lead, the eye-catching Open Break Underarm Turn and the always popular with the ladies Chase Turn. Keep practicing, as there's more demonstration material to master. Dance it slow, dance it fast, style those arms and become a Latin dancer in no time!

I recently ordered the Anyone Can Dance DVD Collection & I'm very happy with it. Very high-quality instruction. I was a student at Arthur Murray several years ago & I'm trying to brush up on my skills.

Highly recommended! I bought the Johnson/Kozak Cha Cha, Waltz, Tango, FoxTrot, EC Swing and Jitterbug DVDs from DanceVision after finding a couple of them in our local library. I'm very happy with my purchase. I also bought a Ron Montez Beginner/Intermediate American Rumba DVD since there was no American Rumba DVD offered by Johnson/Kozak. The Montez DVD is more smooth and professionally presented and there is a lot of material on the DVD; (it also costs twice as much). But for a beginner I think the Johnson/Kozak DVDs are much better. Watching them makes you want to get up and dance! That does not happen with the Montez DVD; it is so smooth that all the life has been squeezed out. The Montez DVDs may be better for more advanced dancers, but the Johnson/Kozak DVDs have a raw and honest energy to them that is invaluable for beginners. I should add that Mr. Johnson believes the man should not try to force the lady to dance what he wants, but simply offer her a clear and definite invitation to dance the pattern he has chosen. Ms. Kozak instructs for the all the moves of the lady in their DVDs; (Ms. Montez does not speak in the Montez DVD). Ms. Kozak adds a lot to the value of the Johnson/Kozak DVDs. The practice music for their Jitterbug DVD could have been written with Ms. Kozak in mind: "She has a cat-like quality that no one can erase. And when you see her on the floor you know she's in her place."
