Lindy Hop

Traditionally danced to Big Band music, Lindy-Hop is the granddaddy of all swing dances. West Coast Swing and East Coast Swing originated from the Lindy-Hop. Named for Lindbergh?s famed transatlantic flight in 1927, the Lindy began in Harlem ballrooms such as the famous Savoy Ballroom in the late 1920s and reached the height of its popularity in the Swing Era of the 1930s and ?40s. Thanks to the teaching of original Lindy Hoppers like Frankie Manning, Norma Miller, and the late Al Minns, Lindy is enjoying a resurgence in popularity and can often be seen danced in clubs today. If you are watching dancers creatively improvising to the music with a lot of kicking steps, you are probably watching the Lindy Hop. This dance is done worldwide so you?ll be able to find Lindy Hoppers everywhere from California to New York to London to Sweden! Paul and Sharon teach the Savoy Style Lindy Hop which is the style of Lindy Hop danced in the 1930s.
