Alec Lazo

Alec Lazo is a unique DanceSport professional. His career has spanned over 20 years of performing, teaching, and competitive DanceSport.

Alec?s first competitive highpoint came when he became the U.S. Rising Star International Latin Champion in 1989 and has continued through the last 12 years as he established himself as a top-level exponent of DanceSport.

Most recently Alec competed in the American Style Smooth and Rhythm Divisions of the U.S. DanceSport Championships and became the U.S. Nine Dance Champion.

Alec has captured many titles in several DanceSport styles and has appeared numerous times on television and in theater. He travels the United States judging, coaching, performing, and competing.

Alec resides in Boca Raton, FL where he founded and operated the Empress Ballroom and Dance School. Although no longer an owner, he helped to make Empress a leading dance studio in South Florida.

His titles include, U.S. International Latin Rising Star Champion, U.S. Nine Dance Champion, U.S. Grand Finalist, U.S. Rhythm Finalist, seven U.S. Latin top ten finishes, Ohio Ball Rising Star Latin Champion, Texas Challenge Rising Star Grand Champion, Heritage Classic Rising Star Latin Champion, Sunshine State Rhythm and Smooth Champion, Southern States Rhythm Champion, Grand National Rhythm and Smooth Champion, Northwest Ball Rhythm and Smooth Champion, Northwest Star Ball Nine Dance Champion.

Alec is a Fellow, NADTA in American Style Rhythm and Smooth and Licentiate, ISTD in Latin.
